Spotify Does Not Work

Spotify limitation

Spotify does not support custom RSS feeds. Readers cannot use Spotify to listen to Earpocket articles.

This is a Spotify platform limitation, not an Earpocket limitation. Spotify only allows podcasts that are submitted through their official program.

Alternatives for Spotify Users

If readers primarily use Spotify, suggest these options:

  1. Web Player — Click "Listen in browser" in the Earpocket popup
  2. Pocket Casts — Free app available on iOS, Android, and web
  3. Apple Podcasts — Built into every iPhone (no download needed)

Troubleshooting

Feed not appearing in app

  • Wait a few minutes — The first sync can take 1-2 minutes
  • Pull to refresh — Most apps refresh when you pull down on the feed
  • Check the URL — Make sure the full feed URL was copied correctly

Episodes not downloading

  • Check app settings — Some apps don't auto-download by default
  • Check storage — Make sure your device has enough space
  • Check Wi-Fi settings — Some apps only download on Wi-Fi

Episode shows but won't play

  • Wait for processing — New articles take 2-3 minutes to convert
  • Refresh the feed — Pull down to refresh and try again
  • Check internet connection — Audio streams from our servers

QR code not scanning

  • Improve lighting — QR codes need good lighting to scan
  • Hold steady — Keep your phone still while scanning
  • Try the camera app — Use your phone's built-in camera, not a third-party scanner

App-Specific Tips

Apple Podcasts

  • Episodes appear in your Library automatically
  • Use "Up Next" to queue articles for listening
  • Enable "Sync Library" to access on all Apple devices

Overcast

  • Use "Smart Speed" to listen faster without distortion
  • Create a playlist for Earpocket articles
  • Voice Boost improves clarity for spoken content

Pocket Casts

  • Works on iOS, Android, and web — your feed syncs everywhere
  • Use "Up Next" to build a listening queue
  • Set auto-download for new episodes
